The reform of the Waltti system started this week in the Jyväskylä region and will progress to other Waltti cities during 2021. With the reform, we want to provide passengers with safe, digital and improved transport services. Another reason for the move is the Act on Transport Services, which obliges a transport service provider to use an account-based ticketing system in which travel rights and user information are saved in a background system.
At this stage, no action is required from passengers, as the changes mostly take place in the background system. The identifier is initially the customer’s Waltti travel card, but in the future, bank cards or another method of identification carried by the customer may also be used. With the existing Waltti travel card, you can continue to travel normally and you can load the travel card as before.
The benefits to passengers brought about by the change will come into effect in the near future. Passengers will be able to flexibly use different methods of identification to travel. Ticket products will become more diverse and easier to purchase, and the remaining balance of a lost travel card can be determined easily and quickly.
