Waltti Solutions Oy is a public transport specialist organisation and a leading provider of IT solutions for public transport for Finland’s urban areas. We are a reliable and innovative partner in IT procurements and service provision in our owner municipalities. Every day, our services contribute to travel for hundreds of thousands of urban inhabitants.
The company’s story began in 2013 with a project launched at the initiative of the Finnish Transport Agency that aimed at developing a common ticketing and payment system for towns and cities that arrange public transport. Another project objective was to increase the use of public transport and develop public transport systems. At first, the project was given the working name “Piletti” (ticket). Work began on developing a system that would revolve around the Waltti travel card, a public transport payment method that could be used on public transport in owner towns and cities.
Nowadays, Waltti Solutions Oy is a service company owned by the Helsinki Regional Transport local government regional authority and 22 urban regions. Our owner towns and cities are Hämeenlinna, Imatra, Joensuu, Jyväskylä, Kajaani, Kokkola, Kotka, Kouvola, Kuopio, Lahti, Lappeenranta, Tornio, Mikkeli, Oulu, Pori, Raasepori, Rovaniemi, Salo, Seinäjoki, Tampere, Turku and Vaasa. We have grown since our establishment and expect the growth to continue.
We have since moved from the card-based Waltti system to a ticket system where the ticket information is on a server and in the customer’s travel account rather than on the travel card. We are continually developing our ticketing, payment and travel information services and ensure that they work around the clock. We are part of a network of public transport IT providers providing solutions for the future as joint projects with other industry actors. Our goal is to offer customers a functional and innovative comprehensive public transport service.
